Drills
Diamond Drills
Q.
My diamond drills wear out too fast. What should I do?
A. First thing is that if you are not using our XL
DIAMOND DRILLS you should switch now! We produce a superior diamond drill when
compared to standard diamond drills. Our drills produce more holes per drill. We
proved this by testing our XL DIAMOND DRILLS against regular diamond drills by
drilling holes in 1/4" thick Brazilian Agate. The XL DIAMOND DRILL consistently
made 10 to 15 holes per drill, while standard diamond drills only produced from
1 to 6 holes per drill. All tests were made under the same conditions.
Q.
I use XL DIAMOND DRILLS and still have a problem.
A. Your problem is probably due to technique. Use high speed,
5,000 to 20,000 rpm, adequate water coolant at all times, don't let the drill
run dry, and light pressure with a quick up and down motion. Touch and out,
touch and out. This will maximize your drill life. Letting the drill run dry or
using too much pressure causes tremendous heat buildup where the diamonds are in
contact with your material. This can almost instantaneously strip the diamonds
from the end of your drill.
One of the easiest ways to keep water on your
XL DIAMOND DRILL is to build a ring of "clay" around the spot you are
planning to
drill. Fill the ring with water and drill through the water with high speed and
a light touch and out motion. Try the "clay" used for flower arraignments to
make your water dam.
CORE DRILLS
Q. What is
the best way to use Core Drills?
A. The best way to use core drills is to run them in a drill press in
conjunction with the water swivel. You need to keep proper coolant on the drills
at all times. Just drilling through water is not recommended as a tremendous
amount of heat can be generated causing the solder joint on the sintered diamond
segment to detach. Also a touch and lift technique should be used.
Q. What is
the proper speed for Core Drills?
A. The speed depends on the drill size and varies from 300 to 2500 rpm. Use the
chart below for a guide to the recommended speed.

XL Diamond Drills
Now, after extensive testing and development,
we're proud to announce our new product... XL Diamond Drills!!! We found that
competitive drills normally give you 1 to 6 holes. With " reasonable care "
you'll get 10 to 15 holes from each XL Diamond Drill. That's a substantial
improvement!!! And, oh yes, we're counting our holes in 1/4" thick Brazilian
agate and petrified wood.
Reasonable care means running at 5,000 to 20,000 rpm, adequate water coolant at
all times, and a quick up and down motion with light pressure. Try a few XL
Diamond Drills and discover for your self-how much money you can save.

Automatic Gem Drill
Electronic feed raises and lowers drill chuck
automatically 1/4". The light pressure of the feed prevents damage to diamond
coated drill bits, but does result in a much longer drilling time. For use
on Medium to Soft Gemstone Material

boron carbide grit, the Automatic Gem Drill is very economical. The best
advantage is that it is automatic and does not have to be manually controlled.
Plastic putty holds the work piece. The
putty can also serve as a dam to hold grit around the tube. Unit comes with
boron grit, 1/4" Jacobs chuck, 1 1/2 and 2mm drill tubes, cleaner, plastic
putty, instructions and guarantee. Size 6"L x 4"W x 13"H.
