Q. How can I keep rock chips out of my submersible pump?
 A. Put a sock or nylon stocking around your pump and suspend it above the bottom of your coolant tank. No chips can get into the impeller and bind it up.

Q. What is the easiest way to clean out the sump or bucket for my submersible pump?
 A. Line your sump or bucket with a heavy duty trash bag. When it needs cleaning the trash bag is easy to remove. If you want to recover most of the coolant, put a new bag in place, suspend the old bag and poke numerous small holes in it. Most of the coolant will drain into the new bag, leaving most of  the rock particles and chips in the old bag ready for disposal.

 Q.     How do I keep my stones from falling off the dop stick?
 A.    Try heating the stone a little and you will find they stick much better.

Q.     My stone is heat sensitive, (opal) how do I keep from over heating when I dop it?
 A.    Another little "trick of the trade". Heat the dop wax on your dop stick until it is very soft, not so hot as to be runny. Put the dop wax to your stone. Wait a few seconds and pull the dop stick and dop wax off your stone. Repeat this process until the dop wax bends or stretches but does does not come off your stone. This usually takes about 3 on and off steps. Finally quickly rotate the stone in the flame, this seals the edge and prevents water from getting under the stone and weakening the bond. What happens is that you have heated your stone just enough to adhere well to your dop stick, but you have not overheated the stone. We use this method on opal, and have very good success.

Dop Wax
 Our regular green colored Dop Wax has been the industry standard for many decades. It a very tacky grab and a strong bond. Softens at 150F. The black colored Hi-Temp Dop Wax has a higher shellac content and gives a higher heat resistance. Softens at 175F. They are the Best!
